Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency and worldwide payment system. It is the first decentralized digital currency, as the system works without a central bank or single administrator. The network is peer-to-peer and transactions take place between users directly, without an intermediary. These transactions are verified by network nodes through the use of cryptography and recorded in a public distributed ledger called a blockchain. Bitcoin was invented by an unknown person or group of people under the name Satoshi Nakamoto and released as open-source software in 2009. Bitcoins are created as a reward for a process known as mining. They can be exchanged for other currencies, products, and services. As of February 2015, over 100,000 merchants and vendors accepted bitcoin as payment.[14] Research produced by the University of Cambridge estimates that in 2017, there are 2.9 to 5.8 million unique users using a cryptocurrency wallet, most of them using bitcoin. Bitcoin inside information for 2018 💰💰💰 | Bitcoin 5000 BVK

website: http://bitcoin5000.org exchange: graviex.net/markets/bvkbtc #bitcoin #bitcoin5000 #cryptocyrrency Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency that enables instant payments to anyone, anywhere in the world. Bitcoin uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority: transaction management and money issuance are carried out collectively by the network. The original Bitcoin software by Satoshi Nakamoto was released under the MIT license. Most client software, derived or "from scratch", also use open source licensing. Bitcoin is the first successful implementation of a distributed crypto-currency, described in part in 1998 by Wei Dai on the cypherpunks mailing list. Building upon the notion that money is any object, or any sort of record, accepted as payment for goods and services and repayment of debts in a given country or socio-economic context, Bitcoin is designed around the idea of using cryptography to control the creation and transfer of money, rather than relying on central authorities. Bitcoins have all the desirable properties of a money-like good. They are portable, durable, divisible, recognizable, fungible, scarce and difficult to counterfeit. Bitcoin is P2P electronic cash that is valuable over legacy systems because of the monetary autonomy it brings to its users. Bitcoin seeks to address the root problem with conventional currency: all the trust that's required to make it work -- Not that justified trust is a bad thing, but trust makes systems brittle, opaque, and costly to operate. Trust failures result in systemic collapses, trust curation creates inequality and monopoly lock-in, and naturally arising trust choke-points can be abused to deny access to due process. Through the use of cryptographic proof, decentralized networks and open source software Bitcoin minimizes and replaces these trust costs. Bitcoin Transactions are: Permissionless and borderless. The software can be installed by anybody worldwide. Do not require any ID to use. Making it suitable for the unbanked, the privacy-conscious, computers or people in areas with underdeveloped financial infrastructure. Are censorship-resistant. Nobody is able to block or freeze a transaction of any amount. Irreversible once settled, like cash. (but consumer protection is still possible.) Fast. Transactions are broadcasted in seconds and can become irreversible within an hour. Online and available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Bitcoin can also be a store of value, some have said it is a "swiss bank account in your pocket". Stored Bitcoins: Cannot be printed or debased. Only 21 million bitcoins will ever exist. Have no storage costs. They take up no physical space regardless of amount. Are easy to protect and hide. Can be stored encrypted on a hard disk or paper backup. Are in your direct possession with no counterparty risk. If you keep the private key of a bitcoin secret and the transaction has enough confirmations, then nobody can take them from you no matter for what reason, no matter how good the excuse, no matter what.

The History of Bitcoin

12:11
The History of Bitcoin - https://blockgeeks.com/ We’ll start at the very beginning by understanding the history of blockchain. The very first blockchain in the world was Bitcoin. An anonymous person or group known as Satoshi Nakamoto published a document in an online cryptography forum in November 2008 and revealed the first details of how it would work, describing it as a “peer-to-peer electronic cash system”. The whitepaper is available today at bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf. It allows any 2 people to pseudonymously send money to each other no matter where they are in the world. It is a borderless currency. The main benefit of Bitcoin is that it does not require any centralized authority or institution to operate. This is in contrast to today’s centralized financial systems that depend on the existence of a central bank or government to mint money. If for any reason the central authority were to shutdown, the money would become worthless. In a decentralized system like Bitcoin, there is no central authority and the system can continue to operate as long as there are members in its peer-to-peer network. The goal of the whitepaper was to describe how the different parts of the Bitcoin protocol would operate and be kept secure. A new type of database, called a blockchain, would keep track of a single history of all Bitcoin transactions and it would be maintained by everyone in the network. The database would be publicly available for anyone to view and inspect, and anyone can download a copy of the same database. This provides data redundancy and makes sure the data is never lost, but also provides a way for anyone to verify the transactions in the database themselves. A block in the database just stores a sequence of transactions, and a sequence of blocks is called a blockchain. Each block is identified by an incrementing number and a unique Sha-256 hash. The hash for a block is calculated using the transactions inside it, as well as the previous block’s hash, which forms a chain of hashes. The data in the blocks is secured using a cryptographic algorithm called proof-of-work, which also keeps all members of the network and the database in sync to prevent double-spending. In this context, preventing double-spending means preventing anyone from spending money they dont have. Proof-of-work is used to generate new blocks for the database, also known as mining, and the reward for mining a new block is given to the miner by creating new Bitcoins in the system. This is the only way new Bitcoins can be created. Anyone on the network can be a miner and a new block is mined roughly every 10 minutes, which includes the latest set of verified transactions. The first release for Bitcoin was version 0.1 written in C++ by Satoshi and published on SourceForge in January 2009 under the open-source MIT license. Anyone could download the source code and run it to join the network, also known as becoming a node in the network. This is the original version 0.1 source code written by Satoshi. We can see the hard-coded genesis block, which is the very first block in the chain. The hash for the block can be verified by using any Bitcoin blockchain explorer. Let’s copy and paste this hash into the blockchain explorer available at blockchain.info. We can see that this hash is for block number 0, and that it has only one transaction in it which is the mining reward, and the reward amount of 50 Bitcoin was given to this Bitcoin address. We can also see this 50 Bitcoin reward for the genesis block in the original source code. The genesis block is a special case needed to start the blockchain and is the only block that is hard-coded, whereas every subsequent block is calculated using proof-of-work. Satoshi’s motivation for creating Bitcoin is revealed in the piece of data he included in the genesis block: a newspaper headline from The Times that read ‘Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks’. The date of the newspaper is proof that the genesis block was created on or after Jan 3 2009. Satoshi developed the source code mostly himself up until mid-2010, when he handed it off to the open-source community. It is now maintained under the project called Bitcoin Core. The software is currently at version 0.15.1 and is available for download at bitcoin.org. This is still the most popular Bitcoin client, and its estimated that there are over 10 thousand nodes running the Bitcoin network today using various clients. Satoshi disappeared from public view in late 2010, his identity still unknown to this day. The only way someone could prove that they are Satoshi is by using the same encryption keys used when posting the original whitepaper in the online cryptography forum. Bitcoin uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority or banks; managing transactions and the issuing of bitcoins is carried out collectively by the network. Bitcoin is open-source; its design is public, nobody owns or controls Bitcoin and everyone can take part. Through many of its unique properties, Bitcoin allows exciting uses that could not be covered by any previous payment system A cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency designed to work as a medium of exchange. It uses cryptography to secure and verify transactions as well as to control the creation of new units of a particular cryptocurrency. Essentially, cryptocurrencies are limited entries in a database that no one can change unless specific conditions are fulfilled. NOVA Crypto Academy Live Classes and Online Classes! Bitcoin, the organism | Jeff Garzik | TEDxBinghamtonUniversity

18:12
After helping to inaugurate CNN.com on the Internet in the early 1990s, Garzik worked at a succession of Internet startups and service providers for over two decades, all while working on open source software engineering projects. Involvement in one of the best-known open source projects, the Linux kernel, led to an extended tenure at Linux leader Red Hat, during open source's most formative years. In July 2010, while reading slashdot.org, Garzik stumbled across a post describing bitcoin. Immediately recognizing the potential of a concept previously thought impossible − decentralized digital money − he did what came naturally: developed bitcoin open source software and started micro-businesses with bitcoin at their foundation. Almost by accident, Garzik found himself square in the middle of the global, disruptive, amazing hurricane of a technological phenomenon known as bitcoin. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Bitcoin is one of the most significant innovations of our time because of trust. The client-server model is a trusted relationship: remote server to access data. In finance, we call it counterparty risk. In economics, we call it the central planning problem. In computer science, we call it the Byzantine General's Problem. Bitcoin is an immutable, distributed database; everyone keeps a copy of the database; can verify proofs against that database. The value reflects our trust: "The currency price of the markets reflects how trustworthy that asset is." The reason this works: +block chain data structure +economic incentive for security +non-forgeable proof of work Delivered by Eric Martindale: Bitcoin maximalist, relentless maker @Blockstream, & visioneer for @MadeWithMaki. How to Start Using Bitcoin in Five Easy Steps

09:55
http://www.voicesofliberty.com/article/5-easy-steps-to-get-started-using-bitcoin/ Bitcoin is an open-source cryptographic currency that uses peer-to-peer technology, rendering central banks like the Federal Reserve essentially useless. Because central authorities do not own or control bitcoin, its value is determined subjectively by individuals who voluntarily decide to use and exchange bitcoin, as opposed to the whim of some controller. Unlike fiat currencies, bitcoin is limited in supply and is not debt-based. Sound interesting? Here are five simple steps that you can take to start using bitcoin. -- Some video footage from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEbCbp1vc9Y Thank you: Duncan Elms

Bitcoins can be exchanged through a computer or smartphone locally or internationally without an intermediate financial institution. In trade, one bitcoin is subdivided into 100 million smaller units called satoshis, defined by eight decimal points. Bitcoin is not managed like typical currencies: it has no central bank or central organization. Instead, it relies on an internet-based peer-to-peer network. The money supply is automated and given to servers or "bitcoin miners" that confirm bitcoin transactions as they add them to a decentralized and archived transaction log approximately every 10 minutes. The log is authenticated by end-users through hashed ECDSA digital signatures (similar to a username and password) and confirmed by intense calculations of varying difficulty, performed by dedicated servers called bitcoin miners. Each 10-minute portion or "block" of the transaction log has an assigned money supply that is awarded to the miners once a "block" is confirmed. The amount per block depends on how long the network has been running and how much in transaction fees has been paid. Currently, 25 new bitcoins are generated with every 10-minute block. This will be halved to 12.5 BTC during the year 2017 and halved continuously every 4 years after until a hard limit of 21 million bitcoins is reached during the year 2140. Bitcoin is the most widely used alternative currency and accepted by various merchants and services internationally. As of March 2013, the monetary base of bitcoin is valued at over $1 billion USD. The large fluctuation in the dollar value of a bitcoin has evoked criticism of bitcoin's economic suitability as a currency. Bitcoin RALLIES! Is the WORST OVER?

11:09
Is Cryptocurrency the Future of Money?

08:07
There’s been a lot of hype recently about Bitcoin and other types of cryptocurrency. So, are they really the future of money, or just a lot of digital hype? SUBSCRIBE to Above the Noise: [https://www.youtube.com/abovethenoise...] ABOVE THE NOISE is a show that cuts through the hype and investigates the research behind controversial and trending topics in the news. Hosted by Myles Bess and Shirin Ghaffary. *NEW VIDEOS EVERY OTHER WEDNESDAY* Since 2017, when its value skyrocketed and turned a bunch lucky folks into overnight millionaires, there’s been a lot of buzz about Bitcoin and other types of cryptocurrencies. Millions of people around the world own some form of cryptocurrency, and entire new industries have sprung up around them. Some believers think that cryptocurrencies could even replace traditional monetary systems. But a good number of skeptics say that this new type of digital cash is just a short-term fad that won’t last long. What is Bitcoin? Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency, introduced by an anonymous programmer(s) in 2009 (under the alias Satoshi Nakamoto). Like the other cryptocurrencies that followed it, Bitcoin is a peer-to-peer digital cash network that was created to allow users to make financial transactions without the need for a bank or other trusted third party. Transactions are validated autonomously by computers on the network that compete to solve complex math problems. Cryptocurrencies are not tied to any national government or currency, and are therefore largely unregulated. Also, their value is extremely volatile and unpredictable, based entirely on speculation. What is the blockchain? Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies operate on open-source software that facilitates transactions between users and ensures the transactions are valid. A group of transactions is known as a block. When that block is validated by other computers on the network, it gets added to a ongoing list of transactions called the chain. All users in the network can see this growing list of transactions (which is called a ledger), although the identify of the buyer and seller and what they’re actually exchanging remains anonymous. Why are so many people so skeptical about cryptocurrencies? Many traditional economists argue that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are just bubbles waiting to pop. They note that their value is based on nothing but speculation - the confidence people have in them at any given moment for whatever reason. And unlike dollars and other traditional currencies, they are not backed by any government, so their value doesn’t come with any guarantee. Skeptics also note that because the value of cryptocurrencies is so erratic and so few businesses accept them, that they’ve largely failed to be functional alternative forms of payment. In the event you business in currency trading marketplaces, don't forget to use your accounts resources within your personalized lifestyle. Before Babylon, Beyond Bitcoin - Dave Birch and Paul Buitink

46:17
Dave Birch is author of Identity is the New Money and Before Babylon, Beyond Bitcoin and is one of the founders of Consult Hyperion, a leading consultancy in the field of electronic transactions. You can find him at http://www.dgwbirch.com/ and https://twitter.com/dgwbirch. Birch starts with explaining the importance of open banking and the new Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2) in Europe, which will completely change banking. New threats will come more from big tech companies like Facebook, Alibaba than from other banks. Money has evolved over time says Dave and each era needs its own money. We went from money that we understood to money that understands us. Money is a mere social construct or a temporary institutional arrangement. Dave ties the growth in global trade and rise in standards of living with the invention of central banking. In England Isaac Newton played an important role setting up the central bank. Dave demystifies the buzz around blockchain. Most concepts don't make sense since they're just aimed at rebuilding existing solutions. He explains what an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) is and how those coins, or tokens, can make trade much better worldwide. The financial industry is waiting for proper regulation before tokenizing everything eventually. The token market will be layered with cryptocurrency at the bottom, then representations of real world assets and then a identity layer above that compliant with Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti Money Laundering (AML) regulation. So who will be the money creators of the future? Dave mentions the 5 Cs. The first is central banks, who will at some point start issuing their own digital currency to citizens, called Central Bank Digital Currencies. The second are the commercial banks. The third refers to companies e.g. the IBM dollar that Edward de Bono already dreamed up in the nineties. The fourth is cryptography (he expects the bitcoin family tree to evolve) and the final is communities. Virtual communities will demand their own currency. The future economy furthermore will be more oriented around cities, a type of community. Water and energy could also well become money. Modern technology and artificial intelligence will ensure a smooth and seamless interoperability between a diversity of monies. Will we see a world of more or less monies? Dave definitely supports the former.

Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency and worldwide payment system. It is the first decentralized digital currency, as the system works without a central bank or single administrator. The network is peer-to-peer and transactions take place between users directly through the use of cryptography, without an intermediary. These transactions are verified by network nodes and recorded in an immutable public distributed ledger called a blockchain. Bitcoin was invented by an unknown person or group of people under the name Satoshi Nakamoto and released as open-source software in 2009. https://bitcoin.org/en/ https://www.bitcoin.com/ Ethereum is an open-source, public, blockchain-based distributed computing platform featuring smart contract (scripting) functionality. It provides a decentralized Turing-complete virtual machine, the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), which can execute scripts using an international network of public nodes. Ethereum also provides a cryptocurrency token called "ether", which can be transferred between accounts and used to compensate participant nodes for computations performed. "Gas", an internal transaction pricing mechanism, is used to mitigate spam and allocate resources on the network. Ethereum was proposed in late 2013 by Vitalik Buterin, a cryptocurrency researcher and programmer. Development was funded by an online crowdsale between July and August 2014. The system went live on 30 July 2015, with 11.9 million coins "premined" for the crowdsale. This accounts for approximately 13 percent of the total circulating supply. In 2016, as a result of the collapse of The DAO project, Ethereum was forked into two separate blockchains - the new forked version became Ethereum (ETH), and the original continued as Ethereum Classic (ETC). https://www.ethereum.org/ Litecoin (LTC or Ł) is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency and open source software project released under the MIT/X11 license. Creation and transfer of coins is based on an open source cryptographic protocol and is not managed by any central authority. While inspired by, and in most regards technically nearly identical to Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin has some minor technical differences compared to Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies. Litecoin also has almost zero payment cost. Litecoin was released via an open-source client on GitHub on October 7, 2011 by Charlie Lee, a former Google employee. The Litecoin network went live on October 13, 2011. It was a fork of the Bitcoin Core client, differing primarily by having a decreased block generation time (2.5 minutes), increased maximum number of coins, different hashing algorithm (scrypt, instead of SHA-256), and a slightly modified GUI. https://litecoin.org/ https://twitter.com/litecoin https://litecoin.com/ Dogecoin (/ˈdoʊʒkɔɪn/ DOHZH-koyn, code: DOGE, symbol: Ð and D) is a cryptocurrency featuring a likeness of the Shiba Inu dog from the "Doge" Internet meme as its logo. Introduced as a "joke currency" on 6 December 2013, Dogecoin quickly developed its own online community and reached a capitalization of US$60 million in January 2014; as of December 2017, it has a capitalization of US$308 million. Compared with other cryptocurrencies, Dogecoin had a fast initial coin production schedule: 100 billion coins were in circulation by mid-2015, with an additional 5.256 billion coins every year thereafter. As of 30 June 2015, the 100 billionth Dogecoin had been mined. While there are few mainstream commercial applications, the currency has gained traction as an Internet tipping system, in which social media users grant Dogecoin tips to other users for providing interesting or noteworthy content. Dogecoin was created by programmer Billy Markus from Portland, Oregon, who hoped to create a fun cryptocurrency that could reach a broader demographic than bitcoin. http://dogecoin.com/ Ripple is a real-time gross settlement system (RTGS), currency exchange and remittance network by Ripple. Also called the Ripple Transaction Protocol (RTXP) or Ripple protocol, it is built upon a distributed open source Internet protocol, consensus ledger and native cryptocurrency called XRP (ripples). Released in 2012, Ripple purports to enable "secure, instant and nearly free global financial transactions of any size with no chargebacks." It supports tokens representing fiat currency, cryptocurrency, commodity or any other unit of value such as frequent flier miles or mobile minutes. https://ripple.com/ WANT TO SEND ME SOME BITCOIN? 1LeyK64AiHTunfCAgPgapCjqR3ktj3ygb8 Rebel State Sovereign P.O.
